Welcome to Deetjens Big Sur Inn Located in Big Sur, California We invite you to relax in rustic, comfortable rooms nestled among the redwoods of Castro Canyon on Highway One. The surrounding landscape offers white crested waves breaking against the cliffs, the azure blue of the Pacific and the ever changing colors of the sky. The Deetjens' settled in Big Sur in the 1930's. Almost immediately they began offering hospitality to the adventurous travelers of the brand new Highway 1. The Inn exists today because when Helmuth Deetjen died in 1972, he left the Inn to be forever enjoyed by guests wanting to experience the peace, friendship, and beauty of this place. There's a little something indescribable about a stay at Deetjens. Deetjens Inn is on the National Register of Historic Places by the US Department of the Interior.  It is operated by the Deetjens Big Sur Inn Preservation Foundation.

 

2011 BIG SUR FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL WINEMAKER DINNERS

Deetjens Big Sur Inn and the Big Sur Food and Wine Festival are pleased to bring you two magical winemaker dinners, featuring two top-tier California wineries and  delicious food  pairings from our own chef - Domingo Santamaria. This is a rare opportunity to break bread and enjoy outstanding wines with some of the world's  greatest winemakers in the intimate setting of the much-loved Deetjens Inn dining room.

On Friday November 4th at 7:30 pm we are delighted to host Pride Mountain of  Sonoma, and their National Sales Director, Stuart Bryan, in the Deetjens Restaurant. Pride Mountain, just a few miles from St  Helena, produces a magnificent portfolio of wines, from  Viognier to world-class Cabernet.

On Saturday, November 5th at 7:30pm we are honored to have Paul Draper of Ridge Vineyards join us in our dining room. Paul has been at the helm of the iconic Ridge Vineyards since 1969, consistently creating legendary estate made wines such as Montebello, Lytton Springs,  and Geyserville.
